IMI Sensors Offers Electronic Vibration Switches Compliant to CTI’s Updated Vibration Standard
May 28, 2015 DEPEW, NY – IMI Sensors, manufacturer of industrial vibration monitoring instrumentation, offers a variety of standard electronic and USB-programmable electronic vibration switches that meet the Cooling Technology Institute’s recently-updated Standard for Vibration Limits in Water Cooling Towers (Std-163).  Per the standard, CTI now stipulates that broadband vibration must be measured in velocity (in/s peak or rms), an ability that no mechanical vibration switch can offer. In addition to meeting the updated CTI standard, IMI’s electronic (685B-Series) and USB-programmable SMART (686-Series) vibration switches are programmable with pinpoint accuracy.

 

IMI Sensors Receives Patent for “Linear Adjust” Mechanical Vibration Switch
May 14, 2015 DEPEW, NY – IMI Sensors, a PCB Piezotronics Division and manufacturer of industrial vibration monitoring instrumentation, such as accelerometers, vibration transmitters, and switches announced the receipt of U.S. Patent No. 9,024,712 from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on its 685A-Series “Linear Adjust” Mechanical Vibration Switch. The innovative “Linear Adjust” perpendicular magnet-mass design provides more precise sensitivity adjustments (approximately ¼ turn per g) and more consistent sensitivity over all three axes when compared to competitive models based on the parallel magnet-mass design.

Among the many available technologies, vibration is one of the leading measurements for rotating equipment reliability.  A permanent system, which covers 108 pieces of equipment, ranging from 174 to 15930 RPM, using 412 accelerometers and 48 proximity probes is discussed in this article, and the majority is on slow speed trains.

April 30, 2014, DEPEW, NY – IMI Sensors, a division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc., announced the acquisition of the GOST Metrology Certificate for its industrial vibration product lines by Russian Federation Agency of Technical Regulation and Metrology. This certificate primarily encompasses the operational confidence of measuring equipment. This process ensures that each model conforms to the product documentation; describing the scope of instrument, the primary technical and metrological specifications, accuracy, and calibration details. Upon conferral of the certificate, these models are registered by name and instrument type with the regulation office and stored in a databank for reference.

 

IMI Sensors Receives TR CU Certification for Pressure Sensors, Accelerometers, Vibration Switches, and Charge Amplifiers
April 30, 2014, DEPEW, NY – IMI Sensors, a division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc., announced the certification of its pressure, acceleration, and vibration product lines by TR CU – the Euro-Asian Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification (EASC). TR CU refers to a set of technical standards maintained under the EASC and operating under the umbrella of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). TR CU Ex certification is required of instrumentation that will be used in Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus in potentially hazardous or explosive areas. IMI Sensors Launches New High Temperature Charge Output Accelerometer
May 15, 2013, DEPEW, NY – IMI Sensors announced the release of EX611A20 with 10 feet of integral hard-line cable terminating in a LEMO® connector.  IMI has developed this new High Temperature Charge Mode Accelerometer to be used in various gas turbine applications such as bearing health monitoring, condition monitoring, and structural damages monitoring.  Other applications include commissioning of nuclear power plants.  The new model extends temperature survivability range to 1300 °F (704 °C) in an industrial housing.  The unit comes standard with a 10 foot (3 meter) integral hard-line cable terminating in a LEMO® connector, but other cable lengths and terminating connectors are available (2 pin mini MIL).
